We’re poor and old and stupid and even
so, we could still afford all the
Mussels,
Scallops, Clams, Oysters, Lobster and
Shrimp we could eat.
Of course we found many great little
restaurants like this one at
Tatamagouche
Our little apartment
in
St. John had a
nice kitchen,
including
cookbooks, and I
took full advantage.
Masako arrives and is about
to discover
Victoria
Meat Cove, Cape Briton Island,
Nova Scotia is as far north as we go on the
east coast of North America. I always have
my sack of bread. The seagulls know me
from
Port Isabel all the way to Meat Cove.
Before the United States
entered WWII, my father flew
with the
Royal Canadian Air
Force
and went back a few times to
visit old buddies in
Winnipeg.
So of course I always knew it
was up there but I didn’t
discover Canada for myself
until 2006.

We drove up the coast from
Boston and rented a little
apartment from Susan at the

Chipman Hill Suites
in Saint John, New Brunswick
which was furnished complete
with Canadian
Cookbooks…………..and I
began to dabble.

We soon discovered the
wonderful
St. John City Market and I
was in heaven.
