This was the Spinner Martin Dance Band which included some former Green People
& Friends. From Left to right: Little Joe, John Martin, Tommy Morrell (behind John’s
hand), Gary Casebeer, Ronnie Dawson, Cindy Jackson, Lawrence Jackson, Benito
Meschoulam, Sandi Meschoulam (below Benito) and Richard Gardzina.
This was the original Forever Fabulous Chicken Hawks Show Band, which
included some former Green people:
John Martin, Wilson Fisher, Lon Price and Chuck Mandernach. Others in the
picture (whose names I remember) are:
Roland Bond, Jack Calmes,  Andy Michelin
and Steve Howard.
A bit of history about the
bands at right:

After Green gave up
trying to make it, I no
longer wanted to be a
famous, big time, rock
star because I was very
self indulgent (abusive)
and during the Green
days, there was always
plenty of booze and drugs
around and we lived the
constant party life. I had
(unconsciously at first)
gradually backed away
from wanting to be a rock
star. I decided that I’d
rather live long in
obscurity than die famous
and I was acutely aware
of what the party life
(drugs & fast lane) was
doing to stars e.g.
Marylyn Monroe, Elvis,
Janis Joplin, James Dean,
Buddy Holly, Jimi
Hendrix, Jim Morrison,
Richie Valens, Hank
Williams, Jerry Garry
Garcia, Michael Jackson,
and the
list is long.
Regardless of weather we
had hit the big time or
not, that life was just too
dangerous!

But I still enjoyed playing
so, with no intention of
trying to make it big, I
formed other bands. One
was the Spinner Martin
Dance Band. We played
local clubs etc.

Frequently back then,
Jack Calmes and I (both
enjoyed cooking) had
dinner together and, the
girls still talking at the
table, Jack and I retired
to Jack’s little music
room. After a few of
these little jams, I
suggested that we form a
small, living room band to
play (50s & 60s music) at
private parties e.g. New
Years, birthdays etc. and
Jack liked the idea. So I
called Wilson Fisher and
a few other friends e.g
Mike Arnold etc. and
Jack did the same e.g.

Jonny Reno
, Chastity
Fox.  We told Jack’s wife
at the time,
Lynn Lenau
Calmes  and she named
the band The Chicken
Hawks. But Jack, tycoon
that he was, was
incapable of doing
anything small, and as
soon as we enjoyed a
little success, he began to
expand the band and get
big gigs. Gradually the
band got bigger and
began to lean toward
New Orleans style
Rhythm & Blues (not 50s
& 60s). Eventually, this
overwhelmed me and I
dropped out. Later
Wilson did the same.

Don't miss out on Poland
I found this other band that makes foot
tapping obsessive compulsive. If you can
listen to it without tapping your foot,
There’s something wrong with you and
you need to see a doctor.
