BEFORE I RETIRED, I HAD A LITTLE COMPUTER DRAFTING COMPANY CALLED JM DRAFTING & ILLUSTRATION. I DID MOST DRAFTING WITH ARCHITECTURAL DESKTOP (ADT-AUTOCAD) AND ANIMATION WITH 3DS MAX. ACTUALLY, I STILL HAVE IT. WHEN I GET CALLS FOR WORK, I FARM IT OUT TO FRIENDS WHO ARE STILL IN THE BUSINESS. RETIRED NOW, I ONLY DRAW STUFF FOR ME. I LEARNED DRAFTING & ART (DRAWING, PAINTING ETC.) FORM MY FATHER AND HIGH SCHOOL. I WORKED AS A DRAFTSMAN AND ILLUSTRATOR AT VARIOUS TIMES IN MY LIFE: VARIOUS CONSTRUCTION & FABRICATION COMPANIES, ARCHITECTS ETC. E.G. DRAPER BUILDING & ENGINEERING, LOST ARTS (OWNED BY MY GOOD FRIEND GARY DE LARIOS), PEDRO AGUIRRE, THOMAS-BOOZIOTIS, THE GREAT AMERICAN CARPENTRY COMPANY, BAME RESTORATION A MOVIE COMPANY ETC. I WAS THE FIRST DRAFTSMAN AND DID MUCH, IF NOT MOST, OF THE DRAFTING (AND MUCH OF THE ACTUAL FABRICATION (WELDING, CARPENTRY, FORGING-BLACKSMITH ETC. IN THE LOST ARTS GALLERY. I WILL GRADUALLY PUT MORE OF THIS STUFF HERE AS I COME ACROSS IT IN MY OLD JUNK FILES. |

The Process: 1. I got a sketch from an architect or designer like the one above and then developed it into a rendering like the one at left. |
2. Then I did the working drawings which included things like dimensions and technical mumbo jumbo. |
3. From the working drawings, we made a Styrofoam and paper model for architect and client approval. |
4. Then we made metal skeletons of the various parts. |
5. The metal skeletal parts are coated with many layers of wax. |
